The Story Behind the Art
Every scarf, shawl, and kaftan in this store began as a photograph. Here's who made them, and why.
A Journey Spanning Four Decades
Norma Hill is a native New Yorker whose photographic journey began over 40 years ago. After graduating from Bard College, her love for the arts led her to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
From photographing art and architecture across Europe and the Middle East, to studying darkroom techniques in Paris, to mastering Polaroid transfer at the International Center of Photography, Norma's craft has always blended technical mastery with deep artistic intuition.
Her work has been exhibited at Christie's New York, the French Institute, the National Arts Club, Gallery Solferino in Milan, and the New York Public Library — and featured in The New York Times, Better Homes and Gardens, and Modern Photography.

Norma's lifelong desire to give back led her to found Fashion4Change — partnering with nonprofits to use fashion as a vehicle for positive change. Current partner: Waves For Water, bringing clean water to communities in need.

What Is Norma Hill Designs?
Norma Hill Designs is a wearable art brand. Rather than designing patterns from scratch, Norma transfers her original photographs and artworks directly onto premium fabric — creating fashion pieces that are also works of art. Each piece tells a real story: a photograph taken in Costa Rica, a detail captured on the streets of Venice, an abstract inspired by global travels.

All garments use digitally transferred photographic art onto premium fabric. Colors are rich and true to screen in most cases. If unsure about a specific piece, contact us before ordering.

Order Processing
Orders are processed within 1–3 business days. You'll receive a shipping confirmation with a tracking number once dispatched.
International Orders
International customers are responsible for any applicable customs duties and taxes. These are collected by local authorities upon delivery and are not included in the purchase price.
Once your order ships, you'll receive a tracking link by email. Account holders can also track orders under "My Account."

Damaged or Missing Items
If your item arrives damaged, photograph the damage and contact us within 48 hours of receipt. We will arrange a replacement or full refund promptly.

Caring for Your Norma Hill Piece
These are works of art. A little extra care means they'll look beautiful for years.
Washing
Hand wash gently in cool water with mild detergent, or dry clean. Avoid machine washing and do not wring.
Drying
Lay flat or hang to dry. Keep out of direct sunlight to preserve the vibrancy of the print.
Ironing
Iron on a low setting on the reverse side only. Avoid ironing directly over printed areas.
Storage
Store folded in a cool, dry place. Avoid hanging silk scarves long-term to prevent stretching.
Avoid
Bleach, harsh detergents, and prolonged sunlight or heat, which can fade the photographic print.
Gifting
Keep the original packaging — it makes a beautiful presentation and protects the piece during gifting or storage.

Yes! We ship worldwide. Shipping costs for international orders are calculated at checkout. Import duties and taxes are the buyer's responsibility.
Yes — free standard shipping on all orders shipped within the continental United States. No minimum order required.
